Concerning Violence is a 2014 documentary film written and directed by Göran Olsson. It is based on Frantz Fanon 's essay, Concerning Violence, from his 1961 book The Wretched of the Earth. Concerning Violence: Nine Scenes from the Anti-Imperialist Self-Defense is both an archive-driven documentary covering the most daring moments in the struggle for liberation in the Third World, as well as an exploration into the mechanisms of decolonization through text from Frantz Fanon’s The Wretched of the Earth. Fanon’s landmark book Concerning Violence is a bold and fresh visual narrative from Africa based on archive material from Swedish documentaries 1966-1987 covering the most daring moments in the struggle for liberation from colonial rule.
